Greening Public Schoolyards

The 2006 Green Schoolyard Alliance Resource Directory is now available!

San Francisco Beautiful has worked to improve the physical condition of public schools in San Francisco for over 10 years.  These efforts led us to co-found the San Francisco Green Schoolyard Alliance (SFGSA).  SFGSA partners with community members, educators, students and public officials to foster academic achievement, environmental stewardship, creativity and community spirit through the creation of public school gardens.  San Francisco Beautiful has given more than $100,000 to public schoolyard improvements, including support of the SFGSA and its Growing Greener School Grounds Conference.

The 2006 Green Schoolyard Alliance Resource Directory is now available! SFB co-edited the Resource Directory and is making it available to the public. (SFB is a co-sponsor of the Alliance.) The directory has information to help communities green their school grounds while providing hands-on learning opportunities for children. Get your copy of the Resource Directory here.
