San Francisco Beautiful's 2008 Beautification Awards Nomination Form

Bring recognition to individuals, organizations, businesses and civic entities that have partnered to improve the quality of life in San Francisco. Nominate a project that has enhanced the City’s physical environment and has enriched the life of your community. Nominated projects must be located in San Francisco and visually or physically accessible to the general public. Nominations must be received no later than May 8th at 5:00 p.m. Awards will be presented during San Francisco Beautiful’s Beautification Awards Dinner on October 24, 2008 at the Mark Hopkins Hotel atop Nob Hill.

Special consideration will be given to those projects that reflect this year's theme,"Hilltop to Water's Edge: the Unifying Power of Urban Beauty". We are looking for beautification projects that make the trip between the city’s hilltops and water’s edge more inviting. These projects happen everywhere — schools, parks, empty lots and even on street medians. They often start with one or two people who have a vision and then a community force builds around them. Beautification has a unifying power on the lives the process touches. We will honor these unified efforts with San Francisco Beautiful's 2008 Beautification Awards.

Eligible projects include but are not limited to the following:

•  Landscaping and planting •  Neighborhood conservation •  Historic preservation •  Litter and graffiti reduction •  Commercial district enhancements •  Innovative and sustainable landscaping and architectural design •  Citizen initiatives to beautify the public realm •  Enhancement of area’s sense of place •  Open space, park and plaza enhancements •  Public art
